Pin of the Week: Bundling Up

Baby, it’s cold outside.

With temperatures dropping well-below freezing, it’s time to bundle up! Yes, that means scarves, hats, boots, and sweaters.

You want to be comfy, but at the same time look cute. Now, I’m not the most fashion-savvy person out there, so I usually need some help. Especially with these freezing temperatures, it’s difficult to find appropriate outfits.

Luckily, Pinterest can be a great fashion coach. I simply searched “Snow Day Outfits” and found some pretty cute options.

Pin of the Week: Do you want to build a Snowman?

Do you want to build a snowman?

Snow is coming down pretty fast, and it’s a little reminder of home. Coming from Philadelphia, I am no stranger to winter weather. This is only a taste of what my family is experiencing up north, but for some reason it brings me a little closer to home. Since I am in the south, all of the people in town are headed to the store to stock up on bread and milk for 0.5 inches of snow. High Point even cancelled classes… so we have a SNOW DAY.

I am reminded of what we used to do as kids on a snow day. In college, we’re all pretty much big kids. I love snuggling up and enjoying the cold weather from inside, but it can get a little boring. I basically spent the first half of the day watching Netflix and surfing Pinterest.

And to no surprise, I found a couple of activities to keep me busy this snow day. I live in a sorority house with 15 girls. There’s always someone to hang out with.

Here’s what we came up with.

1. Bake Cookies

2. Make a Hot Chocolate Bar (complete with marshmallows and whipped cream)

3. Watch a Movie

4. Play Charades

5. HaveĀ  Board Game Marathon.

Some of the ideas sound kind of childish, but what a perfect day to bring out your inner child!

The movie we chose? Frozen of course.

If you’re not a fan of the snow, just let it go and make the best of it!

Pin of the Week: Will you be my Valentine?

Cupid’s Arrow is looking for a target! Could it be you?

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Some of you might be cringing and some of you might be thinking of a special someone. Either way, the time of year is upon us. There’s no escaping.

On a college budget, it’s hard to give an expensive gift. I know you want to give something that shows how much you like him or her, but it can be tough to think of the perfect present. Pinterest to the rescue.

In my opinion, something simple and heartfelt will do the trick. If you really take the time to think of your special someone, you can’t go wrong. I know for me some flowers and a card with a note does the trick.

So, I went on a mission to find the perfect present. With someone in mind, I searched Pinterest for a DIY Valentine’s Day present! Here’s what I came up with…. da9adf3b5726a0ab7c656d37a2ba5e76

I could substitute the skittles for his favorite candy and put some personal notes with it! It’ll be even better if he wins some money!

Once again, I have Pinterest to thank for my “creativity.”

Good luck this Valentine’s Day!

XOXO

Pin of the Week: Let’s get Active

Hey all! It’s me again.

This week I really wanted to focus on exercise. It’s been a pretty stressful week, and honestly I needed to let off some steam. We have great facilities here at HPU, but like I said, I’m graduating this year. On a entry level salary, who knows if I’ll be able to afford a gym membership. I wanted to find an exercise regimen I could do at home. Thankfully, Pinterest is a great tool for finding in-home workouts.

I wanted to findĀ  a work out I could do every morning or night, depending on when I had time. It’s a great way to for me to get my heart rate up throughout the day. At work, I sit at a desk staring at a computer screen for 9 hours at a time. It’s pretty sedentary. So, it’s important to me to find a way to get active daily.

I took to Pinterest and simply typed in “At home workouts.” In my search, I came across a weekly work out challenge. But, I wanted to challenge myself to do it daily. A little competition never hurt anybody, right?

I’m now on day 2 of the challenge, and loving it! I’ve found doing it in the morning gets you up and active.

Now here’s my challenge to you! Do it with me, ok?

I know you probably need some music to pump you up. Pinterest can help with that too! Here’s a list of the top workout motivation songs.

2.Don’t Stop the Music- Rhianna
