Pin of the Week: Seniorits

It hit me like a brick wall. Senioritis.

Instead of focusing on homework, I’m more focused on the pool and my social life. I know it’s bad.

So I turned to Pinterest for some motivation to keep me going.

TRUE.

Slow and steady wins the race. And believe, me I’m not trying to rush anything.

I also picked up my cap and gown this week. Absolutely scary. So I decided to look online to see how I would decorate it. I guess I have one more trip to Hobby Lobby to make.

With a quick search, it became clear I could either go the cutesy route or the funny route.

Here are my top two inspirations (from Pinterest of course)

Funny:

Cutesy:

It’s a big choice.

I’ll procrastinate it, just like my work!!

Pin of the Week: The Big Finale

Get your fancy pants on.

This weekend is my last Zeta Tau Alpha Formal. For those of you who don’t know what it is, it’s basically a small prom for my sorority. I am lucky enough to be able to spend a night dancing and singing with my closest friends.

… and because it’s my last, I want to look fabulous. i splurged on a dress, and I want the perfect hair and make up to go with it.

Here’s a picture of my dress:

I went with a hot pink manicure to bring out the pink highlights in the dress. It’s fun yet classy:

For my hair, I wanted something simple. I have just recently gotten my hair cut, so I had to search “waves for medium length hair” I found this picture: I think it’s just light enough with the right amount of volume.

Now it’s time for make up. It’s not exactly my forte, and I don’t like to wear a lot of it. So, I did a search for “light make up” and found this helpful tutorial:

I’ll let you know how it goes. I could look just like this, or a scary version of it.

Cheers,

Pin of the Week: Maid of Dishonor

OK it’s official. My best friend is getting married, and I am her Maid of Honor. Interestingly enough, she used a Pinterest craft to ask me to be in the Wedding.

Check the red hair, so cute:

And of course, I said yes! Here we are feeling so happy!

When all the excitement settled down. It was time to get down to business. After all, she’s getting married in only 4 months. In wedding time, that’s basically 2 days. Over the Easter holiday, we checked out a venue by the lake. It was so beautiful. I could basically see her Pinterest board coming to life.

If you didn’t know, Pinterest is a breeding ground for wedding ideas. Here are some of her favorite:

I hope I can bring her dream to life.

Pin of the Week: Hoppy Easter

Hoppy Easter week!

Chocolate, bunnies, Easter eggs, and more chocolate.

It’s time for pastel dresses and warm weather. I’m getting more and more excited for Easter. Unfortunately, I am not going home. I will, however, be going to a friend’s house. We’ve spent every Easter together for the past couple of years.

Since I am a guest in her home, I want to make sure I bring a housewarming, festive gift.

So, I headed to my Pinterest account.

Here are a couple of ideas:

Pin of the Week: Hungry Hungry Hippo

Pinterest is a breeding ground for delicious recipes. People are taking their secret family recipes from note cards to the web. And for that, we thank you.

As a college student, sometimes I crave a home-cooked meal. Luckily I live in a place with a kitchen. Every so often when I’m feeling inspired, I will try to cook.

After graduation, I will definitely spend a lot more time in the kitchen. I’ve created a day in the life meal plan! The recipes are both easy and delicious. I hope you enjoy.

Pin of the Week: Let’s find a job

I like to make things complicated.

So, after much consideration, I have decided to look elsewhere for a job. I am very close to my family, and don’t think I would be able to handle the distance for much longer.

With some networking I was able to land an interview for a Sales Associate position with Wedding Wire– a technology based company which makes planning a wedding easy and fun.

Sounds like a dream come true to me. It’s located in D.C. and only 2.5 hours away from my house.

Pinterest is a great resource to find interview tips, resume builders, and professional attire.

I found this article for 5 interview tips for the Entry-level lady (hey, that’s me) http://www.levo.com/articles/career-advice/interview-tips-entry-level

I also found this really helpful resume cheat sheet:

Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Pin of the Week: Spring Break Edition

Sun, Surf, and Sand— for everyone but me.

Spring Break is finally here. After weeks of deadlines, tests, and work: we are free. A lot of people are headed to Cancun, or somewhere tropical. Not this girl.

Unfortunately, since I already have a job (and would like to save my vacation time), I am staying in High Point. That doesn’t mean I can’t have fun though.

I’m going to have a lot of free time, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I haven’t had a break since the beginning of the semester. So, I have some activities planned.

I’m actually going to have the time to go to the gym, I’d like to go bowling, and I have a lot of television to catch up on.

I thought Pinterest could help me come up with a few more ideas. I did a search for “Spring Break at Home.”

What I found was pretty inspiring:

1. Learn how to cook a new meal4d78cbbfba3f938f4ccca951d6259b6b

2. Have a spa day at home {DEFINITELY}

3. Treat yo’self day (a.k.a shopping)

4. Read a book

5. Tackle a new craft

My not-so-busy spring break just got a whole lot more fun.

I hope you all get a good tan.

I’m jealous.

BE SAFE

Pin of the Week: Bundling Up

Baby, it’s cold outside.

With temperatures dropping well-below freezing, it’s time to bundle up! Yes, that means scarves, hats, boots, and sweaters.

You want to be comfy, but at the same time look cute. Now, I’m not the most fashion-savvy person out there, so I usually need some help. Especially with these freezing temperatures, it’s difficult to find appropriate outfits.

Luckily, Pinterest can be a great fashion coach. I simply searched “Snow Day Outfits” and found some pretty cute options.

Option #1:

If you have any of these pieces, it’s just as easy to mix and match! Hope this helps.

Stay fabulous,

Pin of the Week: Do you want to build a Snowman?

Do you want to build a snowman?

Snow is coming down pretty fast, and it’s a little reminder of home. Coming from Philadelphia, I am no stranger to winter weather. This is only a taste of what my family is experiencing up north, but for some reason it brings me a little closer to home. Since I am in the south, all of the people in town are headed to the store to stock up on bread and milk for 0.5 inches of snow. High Point even cancelled classes… so we have a SNOW DAY.

I am reminded of what we used to do as kids on a snow day. In college, we’re all pretty much big kids. I love snuggling up and enjoying the cold weather from inside, but it can get a little boring. I basically spent the first half of the day watching Netflix and surfing Pinterest.

And to no surprise, I found a couple of activities to keep me busy this snow day. I live in a sorority house with 15 girls. There’s always someone to hang out with.

Here’s what we came up with.

1. Bake Cookies

2. Make a Hot Chocolate Bar (complete with marshmallows and whipped cream)

3. Watch a Movie

4. Play Charades

5. HaveĀ  Board Game Marathon.

Some of the ideas sound kind of childish, but what a perfect day to bring out your inner child!

The movie we chose? Frozen of course.

If you’re not a fan of the snow, just let it go and make the best of it!

Pin of the Week: Will you be my Valentine?

Cupid’s Arrow is looking for a target! Could it be you?

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Some of you might be cringing and some of you might be thinking of a special someone. Either way, the time of year is upon us. There’s no escaping.

On a college budget, it’s hard to give an expensive gift. I know you want to give something that shows how much you like him or her, but it can be tough to think of the perfect present. Pinterest to the rescue.

In my opinion, something simple and heartfelt will do the trick. If you really take the time to think of your special someone, you can’t go wrong. I know for me some flowers and a card with a note does the trick.

So, I went on a mission to find the perfect present. With someone in mind, I searched Pinterest for a DIY Valentine’s Day present! Here’s what I came up with…. da9adf3b5726a0ab7c656d37a2ba5e76

I could substitute the skittles for his favorite candy and put some personal notes with it! It’ll be even better if he wins some money!

Once again, I have Pinterest to thank for my “creativity.”

Good luck this Valentine’s Day!

XOXO

Emily
